Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about chiropractic treatment, massage therapy, and visiting Kingston Chiropractic & Wellness Centre.
Chiropractic
Chiropractic is a regulated healthcare profession focused on diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal disorders, particularly those involving the spine. Chiropractors use hands-on techniques — including spinal adjustments, mobilisations, and soft tissue work — to restore normal function, relieve pain, and support the body's natural ability to heal itself.
Chiropractic treatment is generally very safe when performed by a registered practitioner. All chiropractors at Kingston Chiropractic are registered with the General Chiropractic Council (GCC), which regulates the profession in the UK. We conduct a thorough health assessment before any treatment begins to ensure it is appropriate for you.
Chiropractic treatment is effective for a wide range of conditions including back pain, neck pain, headaches and migraines, sciatica, shoulder pain, hip pain, sports injuries, and postural problems. We also offer nervous system assessment and posture correction as part of our holistic approach to wellness.
No — you can self-refer directly to Kingston Chiropractic without a GP referral. Simply book your initial consultation online or call us on 020 8549 5409.
The number of sessions varies depending on your condition, its severity, and how long you have had it. At your initial consultation, Dr Kelly will assess your condition thoroughly and give you a clear treatment plan with an estimated course length. Many acute conditions improve within 4–6 sessions; chronic conditions may require ongoing care.
Most patients find chiropractic adjustments comfortable and often immediately relieving. You may hear a clicking or popping sound — this is simply gas being released from the joint and is completely normal. After treatment, some patients experience mild soreness for 24–48 hours, similar to post-exercise soreness. This is normal and usually resolves quickly.
Appointments
Your initial consultation lasts approximately 45 minutes. Dr Kelly will take a full case history, perform a thorough musculoskeletal and neurological assessment, explain her findings clearly, and begin treatment in the same appointment where appropriate. You will leave with a clear diagnosis and treatment plan.
Initial consultations last approximately 45 minutes. Follow-up treatment sessions are typically 20–30 minutes. We never rush appointments — every patient receives our full attention.
Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. For lower back or hip assessments you may be asked to undress to your underwear. Shorts and a vest top work well. We provide gowns if needed.
We aim to offer new patient appointments within the same week wherever possible. Please call us on 020 8549 5409 or book online for current availability.
Fees & Membership
Our introductory website offer for new patients is £37 for an initial consultation (usually £95–132). This includes a full assessment and treatment where appropriate. Book via our website to access this offer.
Yes — our Wellness Membership plans provide ongoing chiropractic care at a fixed monthly cost. We offer three tiers to suit different needs and budgets. Memberships are ideal for patients who want to maintain their health proactively rather than just treating pain reactively.
Many private health insurers including Bupa, AXA PPP, Vitality, and Cigna cover chiropractic treatment with a GCC-registered chiropractor. Please check your policy details or contact your insurer. We can provide receipts for insurance claims.
Massage
Sports massage focuses on specific muscle groups used in sport and physical activity, addressing tightness, adhesions, and injury prevention. Deep tissue massage works on deeper muscle layers throughout the body to release chronic tension and improve mobility. Both use firm pressure and are effective for musculoskeletal pain — your therapist will recommend the most appropriate treatment after a brief consultation.
Absolutely not. Sports massage is excellent for anyone experiencing muscle tension, postural pain, or chronic tightness — whether from desk work, physical labour, or day-to-day stress. The term refers to the technique, not who it is for.
